What's an alignment lift and do I need one?

Alignment lifts (LFPA12, LFPA14, LFPA24) have slip plates at the front turntables and rear slip plates that allow the wheels to move freely during suspension adjustments. Standard parking 4-posts don't have this. If you're running a shop that does alignments, or if you want to do your own alignments at home, you need an alignment lift. If you're just parking or servicing brakes and oil, a standard 4-post is fine.

Mid-rise scissor vs 2-post: what's the difference?

Mid-rise scissor (LMS6, $1,970) lifts the whole car about 30-35 inches on center pads. Cheaper, portable, no ceiling install required, but you can't fully walk under the car. Perfect for brake, tire, and light suspension work. 2-post lifts get the car 6+ feet in the air for full standing-height service, but they're 2-3x the price and require permanent floor anchoring.
