About Atlas · Authorized Dealer

The widest premium-tier shop lineup we carry

Atlas Automotive Equipment is an American-owned company that builds a complete shop-equipment lineup from one brand - automotive lifts, air compressors, sandblast cabinets, rolling bridge jacks, and more. Atlas engineers and supports the lineup from the U.S., with manufacturing in Asia at Atlas-spec'd facilities. That structure is how Atlas delivers ALI-certified premium-tier performance at price points well below domestic-only competitors.

Atlas's catalog breaks into three lift sub-tiers, each engineered for a different buyer. Atlas Platinum is the flagship: ALI ETL Certified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV with the strongest manufacturer warranty in the Atlas lineup (5-year structural, 2-year hydraulic, 2-year power unit). The Platinum line includes the PVL10 (10K), PVL12 (12K), and PVL15 (15K) overhead 2-posts plus the PVL9BP baseplate 2-post and PVL14 commercial 4-posts. Atlas Apex is the ALI-certified hobbyist line, with the Apex 8 4-post as the showcase model - bringing third-party safety certification to home-garage budgets. Standard Atlas (the 9KOHX, 9KBPX, BP8000, OHX10000X, BP10000X, BP12000X series) is the value-priced tier for shops that don't require ALI compliance.

Beyond lifts, Atlas Equipment supplies a full bay setup: Air Force air compressors (11 SKUs from a 2HP portable to a 10HP 120-gallon 3-phase), sandblast cabinets (standard, large, and pressurized variants), and rolling bridge jacks (3,500 to 8,000 lb capacities, including an ALI-certified RJ7000). One vendor relationship covers most of a working shop's equipment list.

Atlas Lift FAQs

The most common questions our lift specialists get about Atlas Automotive Equipment.

Are Atlas lifts any good?

Yes - Atlas is one of our top recommendations in the premium-tier lift segment, particularly for shops that need ALI certification at a fair price. The Atlas Platinum line is ALI ETL Certified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV with a 5-year structural manufacturer warranty - among the strongest factory coverage in the ALI-certified tier. Build quality includes welded steel columns, dual-point lock releases with audible engagement, chrome-clad hydraulic cylinders, and single-point safety lock equalization.

Atlas also offers a true three-tier lineup that's rare for ALI-certified brands. Atlas Platinum is the premium ALI-certified commercial line. Atlas Apex brings ALI certification to home-garage budgets. Standard Atlas (BP, OH, 9K series) is the value-priced non-certified tier. Read our full honest Atlas review.

Are Atlas lifts ALI certified?

The Atlas Platinum line is ALI ETL Certified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV - the U.S. lift industry's third-party safety standard. Certified models include the PVL9BP (9K baseplate), PVL10 (10K overhead), PVL12 (12K commercial overhead), PVL15 (15K), PVL14 (14K commercial 4-post), and PVL14OF-EXT (14K alignment 4-post). Each Platinum lift carries the gold ETL Listed label on the column. The Atlas Apex 8 4-post is also ALI ETL Certified.

Standard Atlas models (9KOHX, 9KBPX, BP8000, OHX10000X, BP10000X, BP12000X, and the standard scissor lift series) are non-certified value-priced lifts. If your shop, insurance carrier, fleet contract, or municipal procurement office requires ALI compliance, choose a Platinum or Apex model. Learn more: ALI vs. CE certification.

What's the warranty on an Atlas lift?

Atlas warranty terms depend on the lift line. Atlas Platinum series carries the strongest coverage: 5 years structural, 2 years hydraulic, 2 years power unit. Atlas PV, Apex, BP, and OH series carry 2 years structural, 2 years hydraulic, 1 year electric or air/hydraulic power units, and 90 days on wear items (cables, sheaves, latches, controls). Standard manufacturer terms do not include labor coverage.

Select Atlas 2-post, 4-post, and scissor lifts at the value tier carry 1-year structural / 1-year hydraulic / 1-year power unit / 90 days wear items. Every Atlas lift sold by Pitstop Pro ships with the full factory warranty, plus our lifetime phone support at (470) 208-2754.

Where are Atlas lifts made?

Atlas Automotive Equipment is an American-owned company that engineers the lineup, stocks parts, runs warranty and tech support, and ships from its U.S. warehouses. Manufacturing of the lifts themselves happens overseas (primarily Asia) at Atlas-spec'd contract production facilities - the same model used by most ALI-certified premium-tier lift brands sold in North America.

This split - U.S. engineering and aftermarket support plus overseas manufacturing - is how Atlas delivers ALI-certified Platinum performance at price points well below fully-domestic lifts. For more on the manufacturing question, see our guide: Imported vs. USA-Made Lifts.

What's the difference between Atlas Platinum, Apex, and standard Atlas?

Atlas Platinum is the premium ALI ETL Certified commercial line. Best build quality, longest warranty (5-year structural), highest price. Required for shops that need ALI compliance for insurance, fleet, or procurement contracts. Examples: PVL10, PVL12, PVL15, PVL14.

Atlas Apex is ALI ETL Certified at the hobbyist tier - same third-party safety standard as Platinum, sized and priced for home-garage buyers. Currently the Apex 8 (8,000 lb 4-post) is the showcase model. The right pick if you want ALI certification but don't need commercial-shop construction.

Standard Atlas (the BP, OH, 9K, OHX series) is the value-priced non-ALI tier. Strong build quality at value pricing, just without the third-party safety certification. The right pick if ALI compliance isn't required.

Atlas 4-post lift reviews: how do they hold up?

The most common feedback we hear on Atlas 4-post lifts (PRO8000, PRO8000EXT, PRO8000EXT-L, Apex 8, PVL14, PVL14OF-EXT) is that the PRO8000 and PRO8000EXT in particular hit a strong value-to-feature ratio for home-garage storage, while the Platinum PVL14 series delivers commercial-shop durability for daily fleet use. Locks engage audibly, runways grip tires reliably, hydraulics are smooth and quiet through the lift cycle.

The Apex 8 specifically gets praise for being one of the few ALI-certified 4-post lifts priced in reach of serious hobbyists. Honest critiques apply to most 4-posts: assembly takes longer than the manual suggests, and an assembled lift is a multi-person move. For full assembly notes and long-term ownership impressions, see our honest Atlas lift review.

Atlas 2-post lift reviews: what's the verdict?

The Atlas 2-post lineup spans value (9KOHX, 9KBPX, BP8000, OHX10000X, BP10000X, BP12000X) through Platinum (PVL9BP, PVL10, PVL12, PVL15). Common feedback themes: solid welded-steel column construction with no flex under load, smooth hydraulic operation, reliable lock engagement on dual-point lock systems, and accurate arm geometry on both symmetric and asymmetric models. The Platinum PVL10 and PVL12 are particularly praised for their fit-and-finish at the ALI-certified tier.

Note before you buy: most Atlas baseplate 2-posts need 11-12 ft of ceiling clearance for full lift height. Overhead models (9KOHX, OHX10000X, PVL10, PVL12, PVL15) need 12-14 ft because the overhead bar adds height. Always measure before ordering. Read the full Atlas 2-post breakdown.

How does Atlas compare to BendPak, AMGO, Katool, or Triumph?

Five positions: Atlas sits at the premium tier with ALI Platinum certification, a true three-tier lineup (Platinum / Apex / standard), and a complete shop-equipment catalog including air compressors and sandblast cabinets. BendPak/Rotary sits at the premium tier alongside Atlas with longer brand heritage and similar ALI certification. AMGO is the deepest value-tier catalog with ALI ETL Certified models at lower price points than Atlas Platinum. Katool hits the lowest price-per-feature ratio at the value tier (non-ALI). Triumph offers the broadest variety of lift styles and capacities at value pricing (non-ALI).

Atlas's best fit: shops that want ALI certification with a strong manufacturer warranty, and value the tier flexibility (Platinum for the bay, Apex or standard for a second lift or home garage). Use our side-by-side comparison tool to see specs head-to-head.

What size Atlas lift do I need?

Take the curb weight of your heaviest vehicle and add a 25% safety margin. 2-post: 9KOHX or BP8000 (9,000 / 8,000 lb) for cars and light trucks at value pricing. PVL9BP (Platinum 9K baseplate) for the same use case with ALI certification. PVL10 (Platinum 10K overhead) for most full-size trucks - our most-installed Platinum 2-post. PVL12 (Platinum 12K) for half-ton and 3/4-ton trucks. PVL15 (Platinum 15K) for 1-ton trucks and fleet duty.

4-post: PRO8000 (Standard 8K portable) for home-garage storage. Apex 8 (ALI Certified hobbyist 8K) for ALI-certified home use. PVL14 (Platinum Commercial 14K) for commercial bay duty. PVL14OF-EXT (Platinum Alignment 14K) for shops that also do alignments.

What ceiling height do I need for an Atlas lift?

Most Atlas baseplate 2-posts (9KBPX, BP8000, BP10000X, BP12000X, PVL9BP) need 11-12 ft of ceiling clearance for full lift height. Overhead 2-posts (9KOHX, 9OHSC-SS, OHX10000X, PVL10, PVL12, PVL15) need 12-14 ft because the overhead bar adds height. The extra-tall variants (OHX10000X, PVL12, PVL15 tall column option) need closer to 13-14 ft. Atlas 4-posts vary from roughly 7-9 ft tall in their own footprint depending on model.

Always measure the tallest vehicle you'll lift and add 6-12 inches of working clearance on top of the lift's full-up height. See our low-ceiling lift guide if your space is tight.

What are Atlas 2-post concrete requirements?

Atlas 2-post lifts must be anchored into reinforced concrete that meets a minimum thickness and PSI rating - the spec varies by model and capacity. As a general rule: 9,000-10,000 lb Atlas 2-posts require a minimum of 4 inches of 3,000 PSI reinforced concrete. 12,000-15,000 lb Atlas 2-posts (PVL12, PVL15, BP12000X) require 4.5-6 inches of 3,000 PSI reinforced concrete depending on model. Each lift's manual specifies the exact concrete spec - check it before pouring or anchoring.

If your existing slab isn't to spec, options are pour a new isolated pad or step up to a 4-post lift that doesn't require concrete anchoring. Need help reading your manual or checking your slab? Call (470) 208-2754.

Do you stock Atlas replacement parts?

Yes - we keep Atlas replacement parts (hydraulic seal kits, safety lock pins, equalization cables, sheaves, control valves, motors, arm pads, runway accessories) stocked in our U.S. warehouses, and Atlas Equipment stocks the deeper parts catalog at its U.S. facility. When something needs replacing, you call (470) 208-2754 and we either ship from our domestic inventory or coordinate directly with Atlas - no waiting weeks for a container from overseas.
