Triumph NTC-950-1 Frequently Asked Questions

What does the assist arm on the NTC-950-1 do?

The assist arm presses the tire bead down into the drop center while the mounting head works -- the extra hand that stiff sidewalls, low-profile tires, and run-flats demand. Without one, those tires fight you and put rims at risk; with it, one tech handles them cleanly.

What wheel sizes does the NTC-950-1 handle?

It clamps 14 to 26 inches outside and 16 to 28 inches inside, with a max tire diameter of 43 inches and wheel width up to 15 inches -- passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks, alloy or steel.

What power does the NTC-950-1 need?

A 1.5 HP motor on standard 110V power and shop air up to 120 PSI. It also carries the built-in bead blast system and a 5,500 lb bead breaker, so stubborn beads seat and break without wrestling.

Can the NTC-950-1 handle run-flat tires?

Yes -- run-flats are exactly what the assist arm is for. Combined with the bead blast system for seating, the NTC-950-1 turns the tires techs dread into routine changes.

Which Triumph tire changer should I choose?

The NTC-950 base machine costs less if you rarely see difficult tires; the NTC-950-1 with its single assist arm is the volume-shop sweet spot; and the NTC-950-2 adds dual assist arms for shops where run-flats and low-profiles are everyday work. Truck and tractor tires need the NTC-650 or NTC-690.

Does the NTC-950-1 pair with a wheel balancer?

Yes -- the Triumph NTB-550 or NTB-800 balancers match its wheel range. Call us to spec the pair for your shop.
