A Lift Where There Is No Room For One: the Daytona LMS6 6,000 lb Mid Rise Scissor Lift

Not every shop has the ceiling for a two post or the floor for a four post. Plenty of good work happens in buildings that were never designed around a lift: low garages, rented bays, mobile setups, and shops where the third bay has to stay clear for something else on Tuesdays.

The Daytona LMS6 is built for exactly that. It is a 6,000 lb mid rise scissor with an ultrathin 5.5" lowered profile, which means low cars clear it and you can slide it out of the way when the bay is needed for something else. It sits on the floor. Nothing is bolted overhead, nothing blocks the door, and nothing stays behind when you move it.

It rises in about 45 seconds on a double cylinder system with a mechanical safety lock, and runs on an ordinary 120V outlet at 1.5 HP and 15 amps. Height extensions and adjustable lifting pads are included, adding 2.5" to 8" so you can set pad height to the vehicle rather than shimming it.

This is a tires, brakes, and exhaust machine, not a transmission machine. A mid rise gets the wheels off the ground and the car to a comfortable working height. It does not give you full standing room underneath. Call a Pitstop Pro lift specialist if you are weighing this against a two post. Benefits of the Daytona LMS6

No ceiling requirement at all
Nothing goes overhead and nothing bolts to the roof. If a low ceiling is the reason you have not put a lift in, this is the category that solves it.
5.5" lowered, so low cars clear it
The ultrathin platform drops to a 5.5" minimum clearance. Sports cars and lowered vehicles drive over it, which is the whole point of a mid rise in a mixed shop.
It moves
The frame runs on wheels and the power unit rolls with it. Wheel it into the bay for a brake job, wheel it against the wall afterward, and the floor is yours again.
Plugs into a wall outlet
120V single phase, 1.5 HP, 15 amps. That is genuinely a standard circuit, unlike most lifts that quote 120V and then want 26 amps.
Extensions and pads included
Adjustable lifting pads plus height extensions adding 2.5" to 8" ship with the lift. On plenty of competing scissors those are an accessory line on the invoice.
45 seconds, up or working
Double cylinder lifting with a mechanical safety lock. Quick enough that using it on a fifteen minute tire rotation still makes sense.

Key Features of the Daytona LMS6

Ultrathin 5.5" profile: The lowered height is what makes a mid rise usable in a mixed shop. Low cars drive over it, and it stores flat against a wall.

Rise range: The platform itself travels 4.5" to 49.2" on the stamped drawing. With the included pads and extensions fitted, Daytona publishes a working range of 5.5" to 54.0", and the tallest extension takes it higher still.

Height extensions and pads included: Adjustable pads plus extensions adding 2.5" to 8", so you set pad height to the lift point instead of stacking blocks.

63.0" platform: Long enough to reach the pinch welds on most cars and light trucks, extending to 82.2" across with the pads run out.

Portable: The frame rolls on built-in wheels and the power unit is on a rolling cart. No anchoring, no permanent install, no bay committed to it.

120V, 1.5 HP, 15 amps: A standard single phase circuit. Powder coated frame in Daytona orange and black.

Daytona LMS6 Frequently Asked Questions

Can I stand under it?

No, and that is the honest limit of a mid rise. Maximum height is around 49" at the platform, or 54" with pads fitted, which puts the vehicle at a comfortable seated or bent over working height. It is excellent for wheels, brakes, tires, exhaust, and rockers. If you need to stand upright underneath, you want a two post lift instead.

Does it need to be bolted to the floor?

No. The LMS6 is a portable lift that sits on the floor and rolls on built-in wheels. Daytona does not publish a concrete thickness or PSI requirement for it, unlike their two post and four post lifts. The manual requires a level concrete surface capable of carrying the load. Do not use it on asphalt, gravel, a sloped floor, or a cracked slab.

Will a lowered car clear it?

The lowered profile is 5.5", which is why Daytona calls this an ultrathin design. Most lowered cars drive over it. For anything with a very low front lip, drive on slowly and check clearance the first time, or use ramps to load.

What comes with it?

Adjustable lifting pads and height extensions that add 2.5" to 8". That matters more than it sounds, because pad height is how you reach the lift points on a vehicle with a deep sill or a plastic underbody tray without stacking blocks under the pads.

Does it really run on a household outlet?

120V single phase, 1.5 HP, 15 amps, 60Hz. Fifteen amps is within a standard household circuit, which is unusual in this category. Give it a circuit that is not shared with a compressor, and have an electrician confirm the receptacle if you are unsure.

How does delivery work?

It ships as two crates: the lift at 87" x 43" x 9" and 900 lbs, and the pump at 31" x 14" x 12" and 80 lbs. The lift crate is heavy and awkward rather than enormous, so a pallet jack and a level approach usually handles it. Talk to a lift specialist before ordering so the delivery is planned.

What is the warranty?

Five years structural, two years on power units, cylinders, and seal kits, and one year on all other defective parts. Daytona has served shops in the United States and Canada since 1999 and stocks parts in regional warehouses.
